About Me

Ryan Wendell Bauer
Ryan Wendell Bauer was born on the fourteenth day of the third month, 1,980 years after the death of Jesus. (R.I.P. Jesus) Now, he’s a 29-year-old synth-pop sensation residing in sunny St. Petersburg, Florida.
Bauer, along with the MIDI Sixteen (a slightly humorous reference to his keyboards and drum machines), has been thrilling Bay area audiences since 2005 with both his solo concerts as well as opening slots for artists such as Tigercity, Gil Mantera’s Party Dream, Leslie Hall & the LYs, and Neil Hamburger.
His meticulous melodies, sizzling cynicism, and coruscant choreography are second-to-none and weave a tapestry of styles — both classic and current.
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING
“… humorous and, at times, poignant. He has a modest, unassuming charm with childlike goofiness.”
Julie Garisto, St. Petersburg Times
“After dedicating the set to Michael Jackson, Bauer (pictured left) started a keyboard/synth beat as background to a conversational intro with him making puppet-like hand gestures and mixing a kind of rap/poetry-slam/haiku singing style that I had never seen or heard. I heard a girl proclaim “I love this guy! I just wanna hug him!”; my thoughts exactly.”
Alison Chriss, Creative Loafing
“Makes me think about The Talking Heads and Flight of the Choncords while making a cameo in an episode of The Office playing Nintendo.”
Ivan Pena, Mohawk Bomb Records
