Ryan Wendell Bauer

Ryan Wendell Bauer was born on the fourteenth day of the third month, 1,980 years after the death of Jesus. (R.I.P. Jesus) Now, he’s a 28 year old synth-pop sensation residing in sunny St. Petersburg, Florida.

Bauer, along with the MIDI Sixteen (a slightly humorous reference to his keyboards and drum machines), has been thrilling Bay area audiences since 2005 with both his solo concerts as well as opening slots for artists such as Gil Mantera’s Party Dream, Leslie Hall & the LYs, and Neil Hamburger.

His meticulous melodies, sizzling cynicism, and coruscant choreography are second-to-none and weave a tapestry of styles — both classic and current.

Bauer’s cited musical influences include: Mid-80s Electro & Freestyle, Nintendo, Afrika Bambaataa, The Beatles, Brian Wilson, Beck, Ben Folds, Bjork, Chick Corea and Return to Forever, Combustible Edison, Connie, David Bowie, Devo, Electric Light Orchestra, Emerson Lake &; Palmer, Esquivel, Frank Zappa, John Linell, John Flansberg, Junior Senior, Madness, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Miles Davis, Neneh Cherry, Parliament, Perrey-Kingsley, Radiohead, The Residents, Simon & Garfunkel, Soft Machine, Sparks, The Specials, Sly & The Family Stone, Stereolab, Talking Heads, They Might Be Giants, Timmy T., Ween, Weezer, Whodini, Joe Zawinul, and many more.

When not performing solo, Bauer likes to spend his time playing keyboards in Auditorium, co-hosting the SMAsh Radio podcast, “spanning time” with his beautiful girlfriend, and writing in the third person.
